Passage: Matthew 26:17-30

Jesus established a new celebration:  Remembering what was done but pointing to Someone!  He took the Passover meal and pointed it to Him.  We believe the bread and juice are representative of Jesus’ body and blood.

  1. Jesus fulfills the law
  2. Passover is our story
  3. His body was broken
  4. His Blood was poured out

Read 1Cor 11 23- 26 (ESV)

How should we celebrate the Lord’s Supper?

  1. Collectively –(1Cor 11:18) The Lord’s supper should be taken collectively as a Christian family.  Not in division within the body of Christ when we come to the table.
  2. Reflecting – (1Cor 11: 27-30) We are to come to the table being reflective of our own sin.  Remembering who we are and what He did for us.  Coming to the table reverently and repentantly.
  3. Rejoicing – (1 Cor 11: 26) Proclaiming the death of the Lord.  Rejoice in His sacrifice that redeemed us!
  4. Continually –(1Cor 11: 26) We do this in remembrance continually until He returns.

Series Information

This is a 6 week series on the Story of Easter.  Throughout his earthly life, Jesus told his disciples and others what he was doing. But divine hints of what was to come were not limited only to Christ’s years on earth. God had always been telling his people what Jesus was going to do, and even now, Jesus tells us what he is going to do in our lives. He tells us the what (continue to save sinners) and the how (using us and our work in the midst of this world).
