Derek Johnson
Elder/Worship Director
Derek has been married to his wife Corrie for nearly 20 years and they have four boys and one girl. He and Corrie met while attending North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND. Derek holds a degree as a pharmacist and works retail pharmacy in the Nashville area for Walmart. He also attended Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, North Dakota where he completed a degree in Biblical studies with a worship leading concentration. Before moving to Spring Hill, Derek was a worship pastor at a church in South Dakota for 7 years. Tennessee has been home since 2017; a move which God orchestrated after sensing a burden to move to an area that would challenge growth as a songwriter and musician in ministry. Derek has a heart for encouraging people in their walk with the Lord and a passion to see people go deeper in their relationship with Him.
In addition to writing music, Derek is a blogger and hosts a regular podcast. As a family, the Johnsons enjoy taking in much of the sights that Middle Tennessee has to offer, especially places of historical significance. They also enjoy antiquing, rummage sales, and a good trip to Sonic for ice cream treats! Having spent most time living up north, the warmer climate is a welcome change that all have appreciated.
