Before He Gives It

Passage: 1 Samuel 1:1-28

Faith trusts God’s answer before He gives it.

1) Life is hard. (vs. 2-8)  It’s okay not to be okay.  God knows life is hard. We don’t have to pretend that we have it all together.  We are all walking around with burdens on our backs and pits in our stomachs.  Some of you need to know that you can go to God with your troubles.  We must know where our salvation and resolution comes from.

2) Faith seeks God before God-given solutions. (vs. 9-18)  Faith gives God both our problems and our solutions.  Give back to God the answer to your prayer that you haven’t received yet.  You can pray big prayers when you have given the answer to those prayers back to God.  It doesn’t matter what the answer is, give God control over it.  The peace that comes from giving God both your problems and your solutions enables you to stand up and keep going.

3) Lacking doesn’t mean forsaken. (vs. 19-28)  Faith is loosening our grip on the things we love so that God can take complete control.  God uses the broken for His big plans. Lacking doesn’t mean forsaken.  We just need to give back to God what we feel we are lacking.  That’s faith!

Trust God’s answer before He gives it.  Give back to God the answer to the prayer request that you have been praying.  Seek God for God.  That’s faith.  Faith is saying to God, “You are enough.”

Series Information

What would you do if you knew that “for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28)? What would you do if you knew that God’s presence was always with you (Psalm 139)? As Christians, we know these statements are true, but often we fail to apply them in a concrete way.
